A good friend of my parents was a physician. One night while he was visiting, he took a phone call from a patient. I was fascinated that with just a few questions, he was able to diagnose an acute gallbladder attack. That’s when I knew I wanted to be a physician.

It was the complex anatomy of the head and neck, and the ability to diagnose and treat medical and surgical problems, that drew me to ENT. I would say, however, that the most rewarding aspect of my job is the opportunity to meet and interact with so many people – and to be able to offer solutions to their problems.  It’s hard to imagine doing anything other than practicing medicine, but if I wasn’t a physician, I know I’d enjoy being a research scientist, very likely in bacteriology or biochemistry.

When I have some time away from the practice, I enjoy traveling internationally and seeing the world. Volunteering at a free clinic in Hyderabad, India has been a great joy for me.  In my career and personal life, I focus on living life fully, doing everything I can possibly do every day – and enjoying it. Carpe diem!
