From the time I took my first biology class in high school, I knew I wanted to be a doctor. Today, what I love is the variety of medical issues I see every day – and the ability to use surgical and non-surgical treatments to treat patients of all ages. I also greatly value the camaraderie of professional colleagues both in and out of the hospital – and knowing we’re all on the same team.
My professional motto is, “treat patients like they are your family.” Guided by this, the most rewarding moments for me would have to do with my patients. A happy patient will brighten anyone’s day.
It’s hard to imagine not being a doctor, but I know that if I had to choose another career, it would be one that would be intellectually challenging and that would allow me to help people. One way or another, I’m sure it would still be in the medical field, perhaps as a laboratory scientist or medical technician.
On a day off, you’ll find me on the golf course, on a boat, or at the piano.
